Spencer nosecaps

Can anyone share if the Spencer rifle forend's nosecap had any part assembly number or other markings on it to identify it as original? I picked up a bag that had lots of surface rust on them, but even if they are all repros, I couldn't go wrong for $20 shipped - for 24 I think. I have them all soaking in a 9 parts water, 1 part molasses mixture now, and I'll let them sit for a week before I pull them out again. I picked up what was sold as a Sharps that turned out to be a Spencer, and believe it to be original. I tried one cap on and it fit just fine.

I checked S&S but like usual there was just one pic and zoom feature showed now detail. Thanks, Eric.

I couldn't find any distinguishing markings on my Spencer's nosecap. It also appears to my eye that the 1859 Sharp's and the 1860 Spencer's nosecaps are identical.

@redbob is correct, they had no markings.

Thanks for the two feedbacks. The Sharps is definitely shorter, as I have one of those as well. Barrel bands off my Sharps rifle forend do to not fit at all on the Spencer forend either - all three too narrow.

There are two types of Spencer nose caps, first issue is the short type, which is the same as the Sharps. Second type, which is of post war issue is longer.

Let them soak over a day, dried then applied bore butter. Looks like about 10 still had some bluing. still not sure if they're original or repros. Does anyone know if the repros had anything different about their backside mold?
