I've cycled 8 dummy cartridges through my Spencer quite a few times just to do it and yet to duplicate the extraction issue or the double feed. Mine is an original 1860 rifle.

Now I'm not firing. Plus she is well and truly broken in.

He's right you can't be gentle cycling her, the same as any military rifle.
