Relic hunted on the large hill south of "Shy's Hill" today. ( Look at a map of battle) If you look to the right in the photo, that is Shy's hill. Famous within the context concerning the " Battle of Nashville" I was really high up..if you can zoom the photo you can see downtown Nashville as it is today. The OR, letters and remembrances said they were on this hill. It was so steep I really doubted it at first. Until I started getting readings that were bullets. Then Dug up to 12 carbine bullets which to me means cavalry. Also, these were not the nice dropped bullets I find in many yards here. These were fired and all gnarled up.
The top of the hill now supports 2 cell towers, so its not original but the hillside is. I found all of these on the south side of the hill which meant a flanking maneuver.
It was tough hunting for these in such a rough wooded and hilly area but worth it.

Wow great view, I would imagine it was rather brisk up there today with the wind.
Cool finds jpro.

Thanks!! You would have to be there to appreciate the view, the photo doesn't do it justice.
A little but the woods and hill itself blocked a lot of it. I actually sweated at some points when digging and with trying to stay balanced on the side of the hill.

I keep thinking that for every one of those bullets some soldier had to work like the devil to march for weeks and months to the battle, to load his musket, and fire. Do all the bullets show signs of rifling or could those clean ones have been dropped?
