Born: 1828 in Jones County (northeast of Macon) Georgia
Died: May 26, 1875 in San Francisco, Ca. on a business trip
Occupation: Railroad accountant at Central (of Georgia), bought half interest in Savannah Republican newspaper and was its business manager
War Service: 1861 - 1862 Commanded a Savannah infantry company at Fort Pulaski and was surrendered with the garrison. Exchanged September 20, 1862 in Vicksburg. December, ordered to Richmond to report to Col. Wadley, Transportation Superintendent, as his assistant.
1863 Inventoried and received the contents of the closing Locomotive Shop in Raleigh (February through June). June 4, relieved Col. Wadley as inspector and Agent of Railroad Transportation. Created and ran the Railroad Bureau in the Quartermaster Department for the rest of the war. Promoted to Major and Lieutenant Colonel.
1865 Participated in the evacuation of Richmond. Surrendered in North Carolina.
Post War: Director of an insurance company, Savannah Alderman, General Commission Merchant, Manager of the Southern Branch of a New York life insurance company.
