Nice mortar, but I might see some safety issues. One the powder monkey stays behind the gun. Two I would not stand directly in front of the barrel for whatever reason always off the side. I dont know if it had a worm or not but if you use cannon powder packed in tin foil you would have to get it out safely. If you do live fire this some safety officer for the event may not let you if it's not safe for the crew and or others.

Actually we are using nssa drill , we could be off to the side more but would still have a hand in the bore feeding loose powder in the barrell. No way to get around it with a mortar. Mortar crews don't use rammers. Historically mortar powder was in cotton bags or loose.if you watch any nssa mortar videos or Loomis battery mortar match videos, you will see loose powder almost exclusively used today...so I may not be going to Gettysburg, but at " mortar" matches or events .we are fine.exvept yes we probably need to be behind gun with powder, and no 2 back away from mortar
