SHEBLE AND FISHER SWORD

Good afternoon.

I was recently gifted this Sword and I would like to try and learn more about it. The maker says Sheble and Fisher Philadelphia I'm think.

I've searched the internet high and low and the best I can tell is it's very similar to an M1850 field officers sword. Shark skin grips and the blade has some fine engraving.

If anyone knows , I was wondering what I have? Is this just a step above an import sword as far as the importance and hierarchy of desirable swords? Thanks in advance for any opinions of this sword.

Welcome From The Heart Of Dixie. VERY NICE sword and the etching is very crisp. It is not your everyday run of the mill sword. Does it have a US in the face of the guard?

Hi. It doesn't have the U.S. in the face of the sword like some of the other ones I saw online. I'm quite proud of this sword as my first civil war sword. I'm guessing it's a Union Sword unless it was made before the civil war. Just a guess,

It is definitely a M1850 Foot Officer's sword. I suspect the top two mounts on the scabbard have been reversed 180 degrees. The carrying rings should be on the top, not the bottom of the scabbard.
