Sentry watch coats?

It was common practice at the start of the Civil War that companies had a small number of sentry watch coats for the soldiers pulling sentry duty to wear during cold weather. The watch coats were passed from one sentry to the next sentry. So did the US Army have a standard pattern of sentry watch coats? If not, where did the watch coats come from?
