Selma is a lovely old historic town that has fallen on hard times and as a result, it can be a place where you need to stay aware of your surroundings. Also, old Cahaba ( an old ghost town and site of the Cahaba POW camp )is located not far from Selma.

Shame about Selma. Gorgas thought she would develop into the Confederate Pittsburgh. Gentrification, who knows.

Selma's claim to fame these days has more to do with Civil Rights than Civil War.

I don't hold places responsible for criminal activities. Just wanted to make that clear. I'm from a town in Florida that's very nice if you don't count the gangs, vice, and the rival motorcycle club war I grew up during.

Very true. Great thing about people is how adaptable we are. I knew a woman back home who would recoil at the thought of firearms. When she moved to a pretty dangerous place and had a family it changed.

What is anathema can become the everyday.
