Some members of Hood's Texas Brigade Association Re-activated visited there on June 7,2017 with @EricAJacobson and @samhood as our guides.

But the half of brave Hood's body molders here.
The rest was lost in honor's bold career.
Though fame and limbs he scattered all around;
Yet still though mangled was with glory crowned.
For ever ready with his blood to part,
War left him nothing whole, except his heart.

His brother served in the 6th Tennessee Cavalry and is buried in the same cemetery.

 
He "enrolled" in company H? According to the sign that he films here Watkins enlisted in the 3rd Tennessee and then was transferred to Company H of the 1st Tennessee.
By the end of the War, the 1st Tennessee had been consolidated with the 27th Tennessee; a move that neither group was happy with.
