Hi friends,
If you read a post I just put up about salt horse (salted or brined beef), you'll wonder just what I'm thinking by even posting this. However, this recipe looks pretty good - I'm pretty confident it will taste better with decent meat, rather than salt-saturated garbage left on a shelf for months at a time.

The ingredients look simple:
Ingredients:
  • 1 medium potato, cubed and boiled
  • 1/4 - 1/2 lb of beef, cubed
  • 1/2 medium onion, diced
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Oil
The technique doesn't sound too hard, either: http://www.foodidude.com/foodidudes-kitchen/civil-war-era-salt-horse-hash

Enjoy!
