Pavel we do appreciate your recipes. I don't know any Russian so I congratulate you on knowing English.

In school many years ago I took Latin, French and Spanish. Haven't used them in so many years. Can read some but that is it.

We have a lot of false myths about the Americans. But I see that this is not so.
The period after World War I I was a difficult time for the world as there was mistrust between the World Powers.the world is slowly improving except for the middle east where they have been fight for over 2,000 years.

There used to be a lovely Russian restaurant here but the old folks who ran it passed away and it was sold. The new owners thought 'fusion' and chose Hawaiian. Pineapple in the borscht... But there is a Russian Orthodox monastery over the hill - the monks came to their rescue. They're doing well now that they are back to real Russian cooking! I much enjoyed the tea made by the samovar. When I first saw it I thought - is that a still?

Good idea. I did do an article about an Irish immigrant writing to his wife's father back in Ireland about why he joined the army. I think that Damian Shiels has done some articles on the impact on Irish communities of their young people immigrating.
