This link came to us at work. It's a 3 minute commercial for a documentary called "Rock Island Civil War Prison. The Andersonville of the north?" It looks interesting to me and I put it on my Christmas list.
I've been to the confederate cemetery on the island several times. But then I work on the island. Every Memorial day and Veterans day they put a CBF on each grave, just as they put an American flag on each grave in the National Cemetery at the eastern end on the island.
I know the historical societies of the individual quad cities are trying to show that Rock Island didn't deserve the reputation it got.
