NF RIP Winston Groom

Non-Fiction
While he is best known for Forrest Gump, I found his other efforts enjoyable also.

I couldn't stand five seconds of the movie, so much CGI, early efforts, but CGI is better now. Groom is ok as a writer, I liked his non fiction writing the best. He was not an author I read very often.

Yes, but did you notice that the CGI in the scenes of Viet Nam would again show up in "Saving Private Ryan"? But much more realistic. I think Tom Hanks had something to do with that since he was in both movies.

Oh. "Band of Brothers" as well. Remember the tracers flying over them at the night fight near that Dike? Tom Hanks was something like an executive director, I believe. Both movies came out after "Forrest Gump".

R.I.P. Mr. Groom. Thank you for an iconic American film and a slew of American History books some of which are on my bookshelf needing to be read.

I enjoyed his non-fiction books. He had a really easy narrative quality to his history which is also why I enjoy S.C Gwynne and Shelby Foote sometimes.

I finished reading his Shiloh 1862 book today. Enjoyed it very much. I have read all 3 of his Civil War books. Read Shrouds Of Glory twice. Well done sir. RIP.
