I am relative new to researching specific brigades of the civil war. I have two GG Grandfathers in A P Hill's Light Division. One in the 35th GA under Thomas and one in the 19th GA under Archer. I am looking for sources for first-hand accounts of battle experiences. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The 19th Georgia was only in Archer's brigade through 1862. In early 1863 they were transferred to Colquitt's Georgia Brigade which they served with throughout the rest of the war.

Think I remember you said you've already read John J. Fox's regimental history of the 35th Georgia.

Both regiments are also in Heroes in Martyrs of Georgia by James M. Folsom, which was compiled near the end of the war, the officers and commanders from a number of Georgia regiments in the Army of Northern Virginia authoring a history of their regiment up to that time. It can be read online at Internet Archive.org.

I had an ancestor who fought in the 35th Georgia as well. I can recommend two books
Red Clay To Richmond Trail of the 35th Georgia by Sauers
General AP Hill The Story of a Forgotten General by Robertson

Disclaimer: I enjoyed both of these books, especially Robertson's, which I could not put down. If you are an individual looking to relate to what your ancestor experienced in this war, you should find both of these books very helpful. And welcome to cwt!

I have two ancestors in the 35th Georgia (both Company F). I second the recommendation of both the books above. The Fox book will lead you other primary and secondary sources related to the 35th.

Thank you very much and yes I have read John Fox III's book on the 35th.
