I am looking for any information on it like what year was it made and where did it serve?

Nice Looking Remington. Could you post a photo of the markings on top of the barrel and the other side of the pistol? Plus does it have a cartouch on the grip like the one below? From the serial # I believe its a an 1861 Army and not a new model.

According to the Ware book, #9466 was made in June of 1862. It appears to be a New Model, at least to me.

I believe you are right as its a New Model 3 line address with the rounded lever tab

It is a New Model Army, but the serial is too low to be a New Model. My copy of the Ware book, p 401, shows #9466 was made in Jan of 1863, which is when the Old Models were made, and several months before the New Model production began. Do the serial numbers on the grip frame, the trigger guard tab, and barrel match? The first New Models had the "New Model" marking on the second line. It looks almost as if it was added as an after thought. Definitely a mystery.

Thanks aardq, you are right. I must have looked at that chart wrong - probably thinking 9 hundred something instead of 9 thousand.
There is a Remington Collectors Association with a website, but it doesn't seem to be very active.

The Remington Society of America site isn't as active as most because: 1) Not as many Remies were made as were Colts , Winchesters or several others. 2) There aren't as many Remie collectors as there are for the other makes. 3) Many of the members are already knowledgeable and thus don't have many questions but are willing to answer questions. 4) For all practical purposes, there are no Rem factory records. Whatever factory records existed, about 1900 they were all lost. This means Remie can't be researched as accurately as other Makes. When it comes to Remie pistols, I know a bit and am always willing to answer any questions that I can, and refer those questions that I can't answer to the "experts."

SN #22803 looks to be May 1863.
