I bought this from another enthusiast. It appears to be an 1861 F&T Liege 69 Caliber French Musket. I’ve compared it to others online who claim that theirs are authentic. I don’t know enough about them to recognize important details.

Im not familiar with this rifle. The breech area is quite interesting. Studying your 4th photo. It looks like the tang is not attached to the barrel. Then I saw the Rear Sight is mounted on the barrel’s breech, aft of the Nipple. And what is that screw next to the sight? Is the rear sight screwed to the barrel?

Here is a set of photos from one of these I used to own, and it shows the bayonet, and it also shows the unusual original ramrod

What type of bayonet fits this rifle? I ordered one stating that it was.69. I got it thinking that it referred to the .69 caliber of my rifle. The bayonet is too small. It’s the same size as the barrel.
Help?!?!

Yes. The rear sight is screwed in at the top.

As to Bayonets, you'll have difficulty in finding one that fits unless you can physically try to fit before buying. These were made to pattern, but not identical, and even at the time they were made, often the bayonets had to be hand fitted to a particular musket.
Thanks bud. I ordered one but it’s too small. I tried to modify the bayonet, but...not gonna happen.

I’ll need a bayonet that measures 21-22 MM, inside socket diameter. That appears to be a larger than average barrel for muskets.
