Has anyone ever seen this belt plate before? I believe it to be a fantasy plate. I can't find any other in the books I have.

Have you ruled out Republic of Texas and veterans' organizations? What is it made of? It looks odd. Movie or stage prop?
Another collector claimed it was dug in Florida and is pewter. It has to be a fantasy plate. No belt plate book from kerksis to mullinax's extended edition on confederate plates had one. There's one real pewter buckle and that one so fragile I've never seen one that hasn't been repaired but is a CSA rectangle in shape.

Thinking of aluminum German WW2 buckles that have been dug and pewter items I have seen come out of the ground, if that buckle was dug it must have been buried less than a year. Doesn't pewter turn black under ground? I took a look through a reprinted Bannerman catalog and didn't find anything similar.
