After seeing picture of Moon Pie and RC Cola together in another thread, thought I would post a short history of RC Cola.
RC Cola is also known as Royal Crown Cola. It was developed by Claud A. Hatcher in 1905 in Columbus, Georgia. Hatcher first sold Coca-Cola products. He got in a conflict with them over price and decided to make his own brand of soft drinks. His first product was Royal Crown Ginger Ale in 1905. This was followed by a strawberry drink and a root beer drink. In 1910 the company took name of Chero-Cola and in 1925 became Nehi Corporation.
In 1934 the Cola was reformulated and released as Royal Crown Cola.
In the 1950s RC and Moon Pies became popular as "the working man's lunch" in the American South.
RC is one of my cousin's favorite drinks. He use to take the drink and a moon pie in his lunch everyday.
