Question on item

I was looking through some collections and I was curious as to what this triangular piece is. Was it from a pot or other item, maybe horse tack ? I have one just like it and I've seen it before but can't to save my life remember what it went too

It looks like the loop on the end of a samurai sword from World War 2 that the sword knot would be looped through. Since were not in Japan and those loops tend to be made of non-ferrous metal; thinking closer to home, how about the loop on a pocket knife?

That would be awesome if it was from a sword, being here I was looking at some stuff and could it be from a hanging lantern

That style loop in my opinion could have been used on numerous items. Popular even today on certain things although probably not ferrous metal anymore.
