Question about generals' trouser stripes

Hello everybody, I was wondering if Union brigadier generals had little gold stripes on their trouser legs. Staff officers had one little gold seam welt but did general officers have two or maybe a full stripe or something? Many thanks to whomever can help me with this.

U.S. Army Regulations for Trousers Section 1468 states "For General Officers and Officers of the Ordnance Department – of dark blue cloth, plain, without stripe, welt, or cord down the outer seam,"

Officially, generals were not to have anything on their pants but photos often show various stripes. Probably a personal fashion or vanity choice.

Thank you so much CWDF, that's the perfect answer there as it explains why I've seen some brigadier generals with no stripe on their trousers, some with a seam welt, others with a couple little stripes, all over the map really. This clears that up! Thanks again buddy!

I have wondered if when a Colonel was promoted to General, if the ran to a tailor to get new trousers, or wore out their old trousers first. It would seem like some would want to get "General" trousers to show off their new status. On the other hand some Generals may have been on the cheap side and worn out their old trousers first.

.........….Without forgetting the customizations
