POWS Picture

Noman, on the 2 photo Ive seen this a lot but do you know any thing about him? like did he live? or his name?
Custers, according to the NPS there is no info on him.

"This is perhaps the most famous of the Andersonville prisoner photos. Unfortunately there is no documentation of the individual is or when the photograph was taken. It was taken in an Annapolis Hospital. It is possible that this is a prisoner from Belle Isle in Richmond."

The likelihood that he survived is very small. After the body has lost that much tissue, it is very difficult to bring it back. Doctors who treated Concentration Camp victims in WWII learned a great deal about the appropriate medical care , information Civil War doctors did not have.

This is the description under the photo from MOLLUS

I don't know if it is the photographer, doctor, patient, etc.
