That was my initial though and it is entirely feasible, but the surface, broadside view made me think otherwise.
unfortunately I haven't found a way (yet) to put him on any vessel.

Thanks, Gentlemen. I will look into Saugus to see if she was in Charleston and if so, when. If she wasn't, I will have to assume the two sketches (untitled torpedo boat and 'Winona') to be unrelated and that the sketch of Saugus was made from aboard Winona. At this point, these assumptions are just trivial, since I am confident the first sketch I posted is of a 'David' and I have established that Waud was in Charleston at some point in 1864. Those were the important points for me. The other ID will be passed on to the LOC so they can amend the catalog listings for the sketches.
