Hello
Being a 2nd day Cadet, not sure if I am posting this in the right place. Should it be in the Battle of Gettysburg Forum? Anyhow I would like "poll" people and ask, " Who is the best guide/ranger for Battlefield Walks (the long ones) you have experienced at Gettysburg? Please just positive comments and not like, "Don't use the Gettysburg Bullet guide because he stinks." If I am out of bounds here with this question, please let me know, moderator

Moved your thread! Matt McKeon

I've never been to Gettysburg but I've watched a ton of vids, my favourite guide is a chap called Matt Atkinson, he seem extremely knowledgeable and he takes time to answer questions. I hope that he's still around giving talks when I eventually get to visit.

Exactly what he said though most of the Ranger Walks posted on Youtube are very good. I also thought the one his wife did (Angie?) was very good.

Matt is a native Mississippian and I believe what makes him so enjoyable is his sense of humor and his engaging personality.

Matt Atkinson and his wife are very good. I used to like Troy Harmon, but he gets off message so frequently I get lost. But I enjoy most of the Ranger walks. Scott Hardwig was always my favorite Ranger for battle walks. Garry Adelman and Tim Smith's walks are always highly entertaining. Ralph Siegel is also very good. I watch them all on PCN.

Matt's videos are very good but he's a ranger and not a licensed battlefield guide but his talks are well worth attending and I'm sure he could become a guide if he wanted to!

True but I don't see the relevance. The OP didnt ask for the best LBG. He asked for the best Ranger/LBG.

@Gettysburg Bullet are you looking for something specific? When I spent a week retracing my ancestor's footsteps during the Battle, I used two guides who were the foremost experts on Artillery Operations. Even though I am well versed on the Battle, it was well worth the cost.

I like Troy because he sometimes looks at things differently and makes you think. That said I don't believe there is a bad one in the bunch and I guess the most important thing is to take the battlefield walk that interests you the most. If it is your first visit than hiring a Battlefield Guide might be the way to go. They can give you a great overview.
