Mixed Dishes Pork Apple Pie

pork apple pie
(from The Great Western Cookbook, by A. M. Collins, 1851)

Ingredients:

dough for pie crust​
pork​
apple slices​
allspice​
pepper​
sugar​

Instructions:
Make your crust in the usual way; spread it over a large, deep plate; cut some slices of fat pork, very thin, also some slices of apples; place a layer of apples, and then of pork, with a very little allspice, and pepper, and sugar between--three or four layers of each--with crust over the top. Bake one hour.​

This is a different way to have an apple pie,pork,pork fat on the inside of the pie is very different.a sorta of savory dish not a dessert.does this recipe have a German background as they use a lot apples in meat dishes.
