Poll: Which Photo Contest Format Do You Prefer?

For the month of February we changed to an alternate photo contest format. Voting was done by clicking LIKE under the photo you wanted to vote for.

Previously we accepted photo submissions, and then we did a member poll to collect votes.

Which contest format do you prefer?

I like the old format for the simple reason I think all the photos posted are fantastic and enjoy them all and at least deserve a like from everyone. Not just a like for your favorite.

I'm with captaindrew - sometimes all the photos are lovely but if you go by 'likes' then all of them get a vote!

I'm with the captain. I might like a number of the photos (or all of them) but also have a definite favorite.

Old school guy as well. People can like all the individual photos they like on the submission post thread. Then cast their vote on the voting post thread. So you have the best of both worlds now.

Every month has outstanding photos. Some winning photos are heavily influenced by having perfect low light and clouds. Personally, I like unique compositions on classic Civil War subjects in bright light. But I like 90% of the photos posted every month.

Only change I would make is giving a photo of the month winner banner on the winners home avatar page.
