A free update to Pocket Gettysburg is now available for iPhone/iPad
users. (The Android update is still under development but will be free
to all current Android users of the app).
The initial release of Pocket Gettysburg included an interactive map of
the battlefield and details about the monuments, military units, and
commanders at the battle, as well as more than 40,000 other soldiers who
are mentioned on those monuments or are buried in the National
Cemetery. The app is referenced by dozens of Licensed Battlefield
Guides on the Park, as well as by thousands of other researchers and
Gettysburg buffs.
This major new update adds:
- Source citations!
- 413 Gettysburg-related monuments in 29 other States;
- Details about 56 historic farms around the battlefield;
- Details about 3715 area civilians from the 1860 census;
- The areas from which the regiments were raised/recruited;
- More than 52,000 name aliases (variations in official records,
spelling or inscription errors, nicknames, etc.);
- …and much more!
