It appears from the photos that its a reproduction colt the stamping on the cylinder are the dead giveaways. Is there any markings on the top of the barrel?

It's a reproduction. It strikes me as a CVA kit pistol, but it could be from another manufacturer.

I'm a long way from an expert but it looks to me that the cylinder is much newer than the barrel. My kit guns all have stamped barrels.

I think the cylinder is just too pristine and the stampings/engravings too clean to be original. Now, the question I've got is: Do we see a repro cylinder in an authentic pistol? Or, is the whole thing a repro? I don't know. What do the rest of you think?
