Picked up this 1864 dated Ames 1860 Saber.
Inspector markings are C.E.W. on the ricasso and JH on the pommel.
Only downside is the guard end on one side is bent up a little, the guard fingers took a hit at one point and are bent a little to the side, the wire wrap is missing (remnants seen under the pommel, and in the grip where the wire is inserted), and there are a few sword strike nicks on the edge of the blade.
I feel I got a pretty good deal on the price. The wire and the guard can always be professionally fixed, but I think I'll leave it as is.
Best was the price......only $150.
How did I do?
