Can anyone tell me who this Union Major General is and what the insignia is on his cap? I cannot read his name on the bottom of the photo. I have been tasked with restoring it and researching his background! Thanks so much!

I am not usually a fan of colorized photos, but I do think that the work you did here is very nice. It keeps things soft, while recreating the uniform, and a natural skin tone.

It sounds odd to say it, but the change in color of the signature makes it seem more real.
