Are there any sutlers producing repro period correct ammo/cartridge packages? Tried murpheysmuskets.com but the website appears to be down or non-existent.

I assume you are referring to rabiteanenterprises? Appreciate the looking out for me.

What do YOU want out of the hobby?
Are you looking for good, quality uniform/equipage? Are you looking to just get by with the cheapest stuff one can buy, just to get into a mainstream unit? Or are you looking at committing seriously into the hobby, desiring to get into quality/serious units that can do events, at historic places that main-streamers can only dream of?

What is it you desire? Plenty of folk here who can help you, but we don't know how far you want to go in the hobby.

I am a college history teacher and the faculty has asked me to build/develop a course on the CW. I have been teaching WWII history for a few years and, being an avid WWII reenactor, I have amassed a significant collection of "stuff," which I always bring in for the students to see. I would like to build up some CW "kit" to also demonstrate, but would also like to get involved in CW reenacting. I would want to do Union versus CSA.

OK, very good, have some place to start!

Unfortunately, the Feds had very few Arsenal Pack Labels, usually they marked the caliber on the ammo crates the arsenal packs came in, using plain wrappers for the AP's. BUT...St. Louis Arsenal used labels on their AP's through the war. See attached file.

I have reproduced that particular label, be glad to forward it to ya. Also could forward you instructions on how to make nice looking blank cartridges you can form yourself, for arsenal pack use like they did back then.
