Just Finished!
The scene shows two Napoleons of Bucklyn's 1st Rhode Island Battery E retreating down Trostle Lane (now U.S. Avenue). That Battery was originally posted on the Emmitsburg Road to the left of the red Sherfy Barn in the center background. They only barely escaped form that position due to a heroic charge by the 114th Pa. Union infantry pictured from the left are elements of the 68th Pa., the red hat Zouaves of the 73rd N.Y., the 141st Pa., the red legged 114thPa., and the 57th Pa. The Confederate regiments of Barksdale's Brigade visible from right to left are the 13th , 17th and 21stMississippi.

Thanks! I have a large diorama in my barn where I set up figures at various stages of the battle. I then take composite photos to keep the whole scene in focus. This diograph (my name for the product) took 18 separate shots which were merged. Then I add smoke and sky. There is more info on my website.

Wow! When I first saw this I thought it was a painting - amazing process and product!

How do you add smoke and sky? Are the figures hand painted too? And the logs for the fences. Brass Cannon! Good Lord it is so surreal! Excellent job however you do it. How do you get to the middle of the table?

Thanks for all of the kind words from everyone.

I edit in sky and smoke. I paint most of the figures myself. (I purchased a few painted) Here is a picture of the boom that puts the camera into the middle. The barn in front is my interpretation of the Rogers barn.
