I'm glad you're here to sort us out, Schwally! There seems to be all sorts of controversy about who Heros von Borcke actually was - some say he was a Polish mercenary. But, whoever he was he could fight and he was somebody Stuart could literally look up to - 6 foot 4, and very stoutly built. And, he could show Stuart how stylin' was done! I don't know which of them liked fancy threads most.

For friendships during the war, I think the most poignant was between Lee and A P Hill, at the end of the war. Hill was known for his temper and pride but he was also a compassionate person who could keep a confidence. I think Lee was really in need of those two qualities at that time. Very dark days.

heros literally means hero (it's ancient greek, but they kinda invented the word) and he was definately and adventurist :D
