My 3x great grandfather, from Somerset Co., was drafted 1862. His employer bought/provided a substitute for him twice. I am trying to find the name of man that took his place. Any suggestions how to find out that information?

Sometimes you'll get lucky with local newspapers posting such, as I believe it was a sideways insult (by pro-Union publishers) to publish the names of men who hired substitutes.
