P1853 Enfield from Nepal

With the current scarcity of newly manufactured musket replicas, has anyone reworked a Nepal Type II Enfield? I recently found a flea market vendor with a few. They were a little on the rough side but priced at $200-500. The bores were like sewer-pipes, but imagine they should be able to fire blanks?? I do not feel these, in this condition, have a great amount of historic value, so I wouldn't feel bad cosmetically restoring one for living history use.

Who has worked with or use the Nepal contract P1853 Enfield variants? Your comments and opinions?

I know a fella that picked one up early and it is actually quite nice. But they run the gamut from nice to **** condition and they are hand made. So don't expect parts to simply drop in.

There was a fella in the upper Midwest who was buying them on the cheap then "cleaning" them up to mock up an ACW P53 and selling them for $1200 or so. So it can be done.
