My ancestor, Lt. JPC Belvin, 11th GA Volunteers, Anderson's Brigade, Field's Division, 1st Corps, Amy of Northern Virginia, was promotes to the rank of Captain by order of Brigadier General Anderson

Apparently Pvte. James Peter Coladen Belvin, Co. K, 11th GA Infantry enlisted on Jul. 3, '61. He was appointed 1st. Sgt. on Sep. 12, '61, then afterwards elected 2nd. Lt. on Nov. 27, '61, before being later promoted to Captain on Oct. 7, '64. (See https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=wu.89059402289&view=1up&seq=169 @ p. 153).

(From his promotions history, it appears he showed company field command promise by the rapid rank elevations very early in the war, and before the major field engagements of the regiment. Seems a little surprising he was not promoted again after the close of '61 until Oct. 7, '64, especially after all the field actions they were involved in with the resultant heavy losses of line officers over this almost three year period. Was there a reason why his field promotion might have been delayed or deferred during this extended period?)
