Egg Pudding was favorite of my Grandma. She always served it with a hard sauce.

Egg Pudding

1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 pint milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
5 eggs, separated

Melt butter, sift flour and sugar together and add to mixture. Stir in milk. Cook for five minutes. Remove from fire and add beaten egg yolks. Add the vanilla. Fold in the beaten eggs whites. Place pudding dish in a pan of water and bake for 40 minutes. Serve with hard sauce.

Hard Sauce recipe:
1/3 cup butter
1 cup powdered sugar or brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Nutmeg

Cream butter until fluffy. Add sugar gradually, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla. Serve over the egg pudding and sprinkle with nutmeg.
