That is an incredible illustration. Is it period?

That has always been one of my favorite illustrations. I liked it the first time I saw it, a long time ago in Battles and Leaders.

Michigan early regiments went to war by boat. Here in Lansing the local militia companies had to ride off on wagons because the Michigan capital did not have any rail line. We did have one road but part of it was a plank road because of all the swamps.
