[General Butler]

To highlight the belief the Butler stole from the homes of New Orleans residents, our friends in the South made these cards.
Here we have a horned Butler, with cloven hoofs for feet.
The shrubs are small clocks and the trunks of trees are forks and spoons.
But check out the back:
1 is from selden and Ennis of Richmond and the 2. Is from Robinson of Galveston and Austin...personally I dont see many Galveston Mark's all that ofter.

No Pete I dont think he did personally. There was plenty of plunder when armies came into a given town be it NO of Gettsyburg. Butler had issues very specific orders to not plunder and did court martial officers that took liberties.
Sadly, Butlers brother Andrew was a crook and did play fast and loose to the point where he got himself murdered in NO over a deal. Andrew left his fortune to Ben. But I dont think Ben stole.
The biggest kick was that the Butlers did borrow a fancy silver service from a church and it was thought to have been stolen by Ben. But LSU showed that Ben passed the service onto the HQ of Genl Banks when he took over. When Banks left the service left.too.
