Nice kepi right

So this hat was cut for an emblem on the top of either Cav or Artillery.
Nice small US on then front.
Good buttons on the side
Not internal hard piece at the crown.

I meant to reply to this post before, but something else shiny must have caught my attention. The tall crown kepi is made for a staff officer which is indicative by the US emblem in front and staff buttons. No doubt it had a pasteboard disk, evident by the old glue on the inside of the kepi, this would have been silk lined as well, most likely with a manufacturers label. The cuts to the top of the kepi could have been made at anytime, generally staff officers did not adorn their hats with brass branch of service, but one never knows.
