I'm a little confused - you've mentioned
Maxey's - Sam Bell Maxey of Paris, I presume - so I suppose you're talking about the Paris area. Unfortunately, like all the other communities in the North Texas region there is absolutely NOTHING remaining from the Civil War. (That's what makes Jefferson in East Texas such a treasure!) The S.B. Maxey House is a Texas State Park, but I'd definitely check before attempting to visit to make sure it's open in these uncertain times. (The state might actually be trying to divest themselves of it now that the South in general and the Confederacy in particular is so "uncool.") The house dates from ca. 1880's and is a good example of Late Victorian; Maxey's grave is in the city cemetery on the south side of town just off the Loop.
