Next target for data centers is Henrico county

I would love to discuss this with y'all in depth. However, we'll get over the modern political threshold quickly.

We're better off to keep this thread focused on Historic preservation efforts, not what the folks eating up the real estate are gonna use it for, or it's impact to our communities. I already deleted my own initial response for that very reason....
I also have things to say about where this data's coming from, considering AI's been mentioned, but I'll keep that on the down low as well.

Real estate developers are now required to pay for infrastructure improvements required for their subdivisions. Data centers should be required to pay for their electrical infrastructure needs.

Data centers, especially AI data centers, are serving remote customers through the internet. Thus they seem like they should be buildable anywhere with sufficient power lines and fiber optic cables. Unlike schools or shopping malls, they don't need to be close to people. So they don't need to be on or adjacent or historical sites or in urban areas.

I dont see ABT, CVBT and Shenandoah Battlefields Dist with deep enough pockets to protect what green space is left existing around Virginia battlefields.

Virginia has always been known for its historic landscapes. I guess in the near future it will be known for its data centers and big tech industrial parks. The Virginia version of Silicon Valley 👎🏼
Well it used to be known for its Confederate history and monuments as well......things change.

Microsoft's plan is to work with Constellation Energy to reactivate Three Mile Island to power their centers in that area.

I was aware of the re-starting and the coincidental data center. In any case, I do not want to get political, as both parties are guilty of the happenings, but in any case we will pay for this, either through outright government largess or through higher utility bills. All for private profits.
