I'm new here but have a lifetime of interest in the war. I'm interested in Co. I, 4th Texas Infantry, Hood's Texas Brigade. Co. I was commanded by Captain, later Lt. Col., Clinton McKamy Winkler and was known as the Navarro Rifles.

Welcome. There's some wonderful stuff out there on the 4th Texas Infantry. You will probably want to find a copy of Val Giles (Co. B) memoir, Rags and Hope. There are several mentions of the 4th Texas in Mamie Yeary's Reminiscences of the Boys in Gray, 1861-1865, including accounts by J. M. Polk and R. S. Miller, both of Company I.
