Friends:

First of all, thank you for allowing me to participate on this forum. I look forward to exchanges of ideas about our mutual hobby. I hope that I am posting in the correct location for vendor type annoucements.

I also wanted to announce the addition (and reintroduction) of many new items from the press of P. M'Dermott. Mr. M'Dermott has been a paper goods collector for 40 years, building one of the few lines of truly documented reproduction paper goods. They are carefully chosen to not only capture classical elements of the period, but also to be applicable to everyday use.

Please feel free to stroll through our online store, and feel free to pass along any questions you may have. It is located at:

Glad to see that you are posting here, Mr. Sekela! Welcome! I am looking forward to receiving the uniform I ordered from you--I know I will not be disappointed!

If you are worried, ask the U.S. Postal Service first. They can check to see if it is against policy. UnionBlue, works for the U.S. Post Office and he can perhaps be informative in this regard.

You can also send it inside another envelope if you wish.

I have scripted envelopes and letters that look period and to avoid the modern 'stamp cancelling and delivery bar code' that certainly isn't period--I put the prop envelope inside a regular one. They did use round hand cancelling rubber stamps in the Postal System during the ACW. At times, a ink line was crossed through.

Beware of using the Sullivan Press stamps though -- they will be considered fraudulent if used for postage vs. prop postage.

U.S. Post Office is selling Sesquicentennial Stamps though... one view of Ft. Sumter, the other Battle of First Bull Run/Manassas. That could be used.

Just some thoughts.

Mr. Sekela, sir;

Welcome to CivilWarTalk.

This forum will attract the individuals to whom are involved from clerk to "commander-in-chief" or, use such sites as educational references, e.g. writing kits, etc.

With the Sesquicentennial here--people will need things!

Kind regards,
