I need information on: James O. Hardy, Company E, Dockery's Bn., Arkansas Cavalry, Born 6-3-46 and died on
4-6-1921
Alfred Day, Company I, Cockes's Regt, Arkansas Infantry.

Hardy is not listed with Dockery's Battalion (19th Ark Inf) or a James O in Ark files

However Co E of the 19th Ark (Dockery's)was "Company D/E– the "Mountain Minute Men" – commanded by Captain R. S. Clayton and organized as a volunteer company in the 47th Regiment, Arkansas State Militia, Hot Springs County, Arkansas on December 25, 1861. The unit was sworn in to Confederate service on March 1, 1862;[6][7]" if that fits his area

Hardy isn't in soldier sailor database, but not unusual out west, especially if he didn't survive.

When these units went from State Militia to an organized CS State unit in this case the 19th Ark Inf there records reflected that most of the time and would show "Formerly such and such" unit in the pages of the records. Mountain Minute Men were mustered into CS service as part of the 19th Ark Inf.

whats somewhat unusual is the joined from desertion note for Day

I don't think Dockery's Battalion, Arkansas Cavalry is exactly the same as Dockery's 19th Arkansas Infantry.

Tom P. Dockery assumed command of Martin E. Green's brigade (including his own 19th Ark. Inf.) during the siege of Vicksburg after Green's death. After the surrender the Arkansas soldiers were to head to parole camps in their home state and what men did were organized into a consolidated brigade under Dockery's command that included both mounted and dismounted troops.

I think that might be the cavalry battalion in question. Brig. Gen. Dockery directly commanded the mounted portion and Col. Horatio G. P. Williams commanded the infantry portion. The unit went on to see action in the Camden Expedition.

that's the 1st thing I did when saw UCV said no hits, was run James Hardy though the database as a Missouri confederate on the chance he was in a consolidated regt and nothing. there was a james hardy no middle initial in the 5th MO Regt, however that's Cockerells MO brigade not Greens primarily ARK brigade.........and zilch as ark confederate
