Hi there,
I need some help with my current project, a model of the USS Alarm 1874.
I have been able to obtain a plan and I also found some photos and drawings of this rather strange vessel. Currently I'm in the process of finishing the hull and here I where I experienced some trouble.
In a historic sketch the artist has added a strange object which is protruding from the side of the hull. In fact in some other photos you can clearly see a small opening in this location, but what is the thing protruding from inside the hull (see red circle)
I have also found a small cardboard model of this ship which shows 2 such objects protruding from each side of the vessels hull. My first thought was it could be some kind of stabilizer but could it be that this ship had a spar torpedo (or even 2) to each side?
Any help would be great. Thanks a lot in advance
Cheers
René
