I need help reading these 3 words from a handwritten CW document.

A
Three times they [?] to carry our advanced position, but were each time repulsed with heavy loss

B
The programme was occasionally varied by desultory firing during the day-it being their [?] intention to harass us as much as possible. – preparatory

C
"in arrest. Doubtless at some future time, he will have an opportunity of explaining the motives which induced him to act thus [malvisidily?] The gallantry and patriotism of the regiment itself..." `

Context shows this word means unprofessionally, stupidly, near disastrously, or similar.

To act thus unadvisidly
Now I am very impressed. I think that you are exactly correct.
Thank you so much!

I did pretty good, 24 pages and 11,507 words and I got all but 3.
You, however, are, as the Brits would say "spot on" and "you got it in one"
