Need help identifying uniform

This is a old family photo, and I'm trying to identify if it was a military academy uniform or a civil war uniform that I'm not familiar with.
Any ideas or comment are much appreciated.

Its a post war cadet uniform and the flag in the upper left hand corner should be able to ID the university. Could be University of Texas or Tennessee or others.

These larger format photos in thick cardboard stock are called cabinet cards. They were made around the same time but their popularity was greatest in the 1880's and 90's during the late Victorian era or turn of the century. With the stand up collar and his hair style my guess would be early 1900's.
