Need help identifying this flag

Hello,

I need help identifying this confederate flag.Do you think it is real?I also was wondering if you think this could be a battle flag?
Thanks,
Darren Lebel

Interesting in that it shows some damage but way less than most "battle-used" flags. Guessing by the sparse description that it's not battle-used as they surely would have provided some details about which regiment used it and such

Actually now thinking of it most genuine flags from that era are extremely tattered due to age (moreso than battle wear) so I'm guessing this is a good bit newer

Here is the flag in question.

I'm going to make a display of my ignorance: I don't like the way the white borders on the blue crossed stripes are so uneven on this flag. Furthermore, those tapering margins are just SOOOOO straight, they look to me like they've been made by machine sewing. Or even by photo manipulation! Or even (gasp) by ink jet printing! I don't like the "cracks" that seem to run through the image, either. I think the image just looks wrong. To me, it looks WAAAY wrong.

Am I wrong? Quite likely. I will look forward to some feedback from flag experts. Until that happens, this still looks crazy wrong to me. Seriously, folks: Anyone capable of aligning those thirteen stars so perfectly would have been MORE than capable of making uniform white border margins along the blue cross. But the white border margins are totally wrong here.

CLEARLY, that sort of common perfection isn't visible here. Furthermore, I don't see a SINGLE stitch of thread anywhere. I think this image is bogus.

Okay...go ahead and tell me how ignorant I am. I already know that I am....

Agreed. That's why I believe it a was very bad screen print from maybe 1960s-1970s.

Yep, the blue and red screens don't register (i.e., align) properly. I'd guess with the others, from the 1950s, with the resurgence of all things Dixie.

Agree with others above... This is a 1950-60 era collectable... CS battle flags were not "printed"... besides being wrong material and wrong pattern as well... Did someone actually frame that ?... Was this image from an auction.. ebay or something?...

It appears to be King William Artillery Battery Virginia. In common with most artillery batteries of the Army of Northern Virginia, the King William Artillery, which I believe is what you pictured in the link, was issued an infantry-size battle flag (4 feet by 4 feet). I learned this from source titled: Arms and Equipment of The Confederacy, (1998).

Shoot. Probably wrong....now that I look even closer. Sorry. There's quite a few and they do look quite similar. Got me looking, though! Thanks for posting :)
