The North Carolina Brigades of Lee's Army would soon suffer terrible losses at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg. Thus the a need for conscripted replacements. One was my 2nd great-grandpa, (my Avatar).

It's funny to see the misspelled names, since this is, of course, still a newspaper.

Uhhhhh...I hate to be the one to say it but there are quite a few mistakes.
(I memorized Confederate brigade structure lol)

March-April, 1863:
Ripley's Brigade: Regiments are correct, but the brigade name is "Colston's Brigade"
Ramseur's Brigade: Good
Lane's Brigade: Good
Pender's Brigade: 35th NC is actually part of Ransom's brigade; it's listed twice for some reason??
Iverson's Brigade: Good
Ransom's Brigade: Missing the 56th NC
Trimble's Brigade: 21st NC is part of Hoke's brigade; Trimble's brigade does not exist at this time
Hood's Brigade: Does not exist, I think they mean Hoke's Brigade, and in that case the 21st and 57th NCs are missing, and the 53rd is part of Daniel's
Cook's Brigade: 47th NC is not part of the brigade, I think they mean the 48th, and the brigade name is Cooke's
Daniel's Brigade: Missing the 32nd and 53rd NCs
Pettigrew's Brigade: The 42nd is not part of the brigade, I think they mean the 52nd.
Clingman's Brigade: Good

The 41st NC is actually a cavalry regiment, not an artillery regiment.

Of the unbrigaded: 18th was already listed, 29th and 39th are in Ector's Brigade (I don't think they looked at the regiments in the West), 32nd is in Daniel's Brigade, 50th is also unbrigaded, 55th is in Davis's Mississippi Brigade, 56th is in Ransom's Brigade, 57th is in Hoke's Brigade, 58th and 60th are in Dept. of East Tennessee, and 62nd is at Cumberland Gap.

Missing are the 63rd and 64th; the 63rd is a cavalry regiment and the 64th is at Cumberland Gap.

I just know there will be gaps in the commanding officers, so I'm not going to cover them.

The Colonel for the 49th at this time would've been LeRoy M. McAfee. The original Colonel was Stephen D. Ramseur. He was promoted to Brigadier General in October 1862. He would be promoted to Major General on June 2st 1864 following Spotsylvania before being killed at Cedar Creek in October.

39th would have been with McNair's Brigade. They would not transfer to ectors brigade until May 25th 1864, according to D. H. Reynolds' diaries.

This newspaper printed order of battle information that would be invaluable to the Union army.
Armies pay spies to discover what the newspaper gave away for free.
