Purchased this 12 pounder from a dealer it had been in a GAR hall for years it had been painted green for many years. I wanted paint off it took 2 days to remove here is before and after pictures it has a nice seam and is in sweet condition.

The GAR seems to have had a real attraction for paint, I have a 32# solid shot from a GAR Hall that was/is painted silver.

Thank you! How long do you think the patina on 12 pounder will darken again kinda looks like a cast iron pan that has been scrubbed?

I'd do it up proper.

Run it through a round of electrolysis, then a paraffin boil.

Then you would have the confidence/satisfaction of knowing that not only has it been properly cleaned and preserved for the best possible display - but you'd also get that end color you want!

Here is a dug shoe that i actually finished last night using an acid bath... They come out looking like aluminum.

After a neutralizing soak, i still run them through a round of electrolysis to achieve that natural iron look.
